Microfic Roundup

Jan 13-19

Week two, and microfic is still fun! I tried to experiment more this week, using different tenses/PoVs and working to include descriptions.
Also had the first case of a story which felt like it continued after the microfic, so “Wanderer” is now a mini-serial. My plan is to work on it whenever the daily prompt isn’t something I engage with.

Oh, also did a bit of newsletter housekeeping - there are now three sections: “Essays”, “Fiction”, and “Microfiction”. These roundups will be going in “Fiction”, along with any other writing I want to share. (Currently considering doing one fiction piece per fortnight and one essay a fortnight, so one piece a week alongside the microfiction. But I’m waiting to see how sustainable the essay writing is for me.)

By default subscribing will sign people up for the Essay and Fiction emails, with them being able to opt-in to Microfiction emails in their subscription settings. If you don’t want the essays (or the fiction, I suppose) you can turn emails for that off in the same place. You’ll still be able to see the posts on the website/app, they just won’t land in your inbox. I want to minimise email clutter for people.

Here’s this week’s batch of microfics:

Batty
What am I doing in your house? Your beast dragged me in...
Wanderer
The latest poor soul to seek refuge through the portal purrs.
Fairy Curse
It was an innocent request. Made to the wrong person.
Wanderer Part 2
How fast could such small things grow, anyway?
Mouthy Gift Horse
See Spot. See Spot... talk?
The Heart of Art
I love analysis tools, but I hate prescriptivism. This fic came out of that hate.
The Promise
We swore a vow all those years ago, that hot summer day by the swings. But things change...
