“Oh.” Percy paused, the options on the hotel booking page prompting a thought he probably should have had before starting. “Do we want one bed, or two?”
“One, surely?” His demiboyfriend JJ said quizzically.
“That was my first thought, but… going to a con is totes different from spending a weekend together, y’know? It’s such a small space… and we don’t know how synced our schedules are going to be…”
“Ohh hm.” JJ suddenly shared his uncertainty.
“Plus, um…” Percy fidgeted with his mouse, his voice dropping to a mumble “Air conditioning sometimes makes me snore.”
“With the air being so dry?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, I was already going to be bringing earplugs in case my allergies act up, so I’ll just make sure I pack enough for two. But yeah, it’s kinda… Like, I’m assuming you’re not going to want to go to the morning walks…”
“Hell no.” Percy gave a theatrical shudder, making JJ laugh, then seriously added “But I think it’d be really good for you to attend ‘em. Especially with how - I mean, I find cons really stressful, and usually it’s a good kind of stress, but I still need to keep myself grounded and calm…”
“Oh yeah hundo percent. I’d mentally pencilled them in and… really should’ve thought about the fact I’d be trying to get out of bed and use the bathroom and everything without waking you up.”
“Hey I didn’t think about it either until the hotel asked. So…” Percy leant back and hooked his fingers behind his head, mentally laying the two options out. “I’m hoping there’s a lot of stuff we’ll be going to together.”
“Plus hanging out when we’re not at panels.”
“Right! But, like, is much of that likely to happen in our room?”
“Hmmm I do like to sit in quiet, especially later in the week when the con starts to get to me. One of the reasons I always book the con hotel is it being easier to nip back to my little sanctuary.”
“Ok, so let’s assume we’ll be using the room for winding down, sleeping…” Percy hesitated, then coughed and said “How horny do you think you’re gonna be? Cause, like, normally by like day three of a con I’m baseline knackered sooo…”
JJ doubled up in helpless giggles, leaving Percy fidgeting impatiently.
“I love the way you do ‘real talk’, man. It’s adorable.”
“Yes, thank you, I love you too, now seriously…”
“I cannot be as serious about this shit as you.” JJ said merrily. “You have a gift.”
Percy rolled his eyes to the heavens and sighed heavily.
“Ok, ok.” JJ leant forward, managing a thin facade of solemnity. “Are we going to spend more time chilling than fucking?”
“Exactly. It’s like, on the one hand ending the day in a happy puddle with you gushing about our favourite panel sounds amazing… but what if one of us needs to turn in early and the other isn’t ready to sleep yet? Or, like, I need a nap at the same time you want to decompress?”
“Yeah, yeah, I hear ya.” JJ said, now managing mostly sincere seriousness. “We’re both fidgety. Which isn’t a problem when I’m at yours because I can just go to any other room while you drop off, and even at mine you could go hang in the main room if you don’t mind chatting with my flatmates… or worst case you can head home. But stuck in the same room for a week… doubly so on the same mattress…”
“Yeah. I think…”
“Two beds this time, and see how it goes?”
“Yeah.”
JJ smirked and gave a sultry wink. “And hey, since we’d already talked about me staying over to make travel easier… I think we should make sure we both get an early night, hm hm. So we’re all prepared for the con.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Percy grinned as he clicked through the booking form.
Prompt was “Sharing a bed”.
